Avoid Panic Attacks And Learn How To Beat Anxiety Disorder

June 13th, 2009

When anxiety takes hold and the one suffering from it is unable to get rid of it for what seems to be an eternity, every day can become frightening. While being helped by the medical community is an option for these sufferers, many times they see this as a last resort and seek out natural anxiety cures.
Most people will try to hide their case of anxiety disorder from everyone they know. This happens because people don’t realize they are experiencing a disorder that is relatively common. Therefore, they think nobody will understand their anxiety and may actually believe they are somehow weak because their nerves have gotten the better of them.
Self Help for Anxiety
A lot of people suffer from anxiety disorder and a lot of people have recovered from it. Unfortunately, most anxiety sufferers do not realize this disease is so widespread and because of this they are afraid to tell anyone. This only makes matters worse.
To overcome anxiety disorder the first thing the sufferer must realize is, anxiety and panic are adrenaline driven. So, it is actually adrenaline that causes the strange and disconcerting feelings which accompanies anxiety. The sufferer must also realize when he or she tries to fight these disconcerting feelings, more adrenaline is pumped through the bloodstream. So, overcoming anxiety actually requires accepting these awful adrenaline-produced feelings because fighting simply creates more adrenaline flow and so, more awful experiences.
The second part is when suffering anxiety, you must stop trying to run away from it. An anxious state is a state where a person is pumping adrenaline throughout the body. This adrenaline pumping is a body’s natural response to fear. When you are fearful, you are in a state of fight or flight. So, obviously, when you are fighting or running away, you are causing adrenaline to be pump out of control.
Trying to Fight it Off
Not running away or fighting the symptoms of anxiety means you are fulling realizing these symptoms are occurring. So, to realize they are happening, studying the feelings anxiety and panic brings on is helpful because this is the opposite of fighting or running away. When we don’t fight anxiety and we don’t run away from it, we will not be adding any adrenaline to our bloodstreams. Therefore, we will not be manufacturing more frightful feelings anxiety is known for bringing on.
Of course, if one of these symptoms would be something such as chest pains, the sufferer should call a doctor immediately. Once the doctor tells him or her it is not a heart attack but a problem with nerves, he or she will realize the symptoms being experienced are anxiety related and not cardiovascular.
Without Fear, Anxiety Cannot Survive
Once a person learns how to give no extra concern to physical feelings brought about by anxiety, this sufferer will no longer be fearing the symptoms of fear. Adrenaline may continue to pump through the body for no reason for some time to come, but the panic attack will stop eventually. The sufferer will no longer be fueling anxiety with the fight or flight response. In other words, the anxiety sufferer will now be in a recovery phase because he or she is no longer stoking the flames of anxiety and panic.
At this point, a full recovery will be inevitable. Just be sure you realize scaled down attacks of panic and anxiety will come back to visit you from time to time. Accept this fact and you will become totally free of anxiety disorder in the future. When in the future? Don’t put a time-line on it. This would be fighting.
